The basic principles of a healthy lifestyle seem to be imprinted in our memory and become accepted truths. When the scale reads a higher number than you are used to, all these truths come to mind. You think they might help you get back into shape: jog in the morning, always eat your meals at the same time, avoid sweets, drink lots of water. But do all these rules really work?

10. Get eight hours of sleep




Research from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine has found that humans need 7 hours of sleep in order for their bodies to work efficiently and feel full of energy during the day. Your body needs this time to recharge and recover during the night.
